Position Description
Aechelon Technology Inc, a leading developer and supplier of visual systems for high-end flight simulators based in San Francisco, has an open position for a geography production engineer. The primary workplace for this position will be in our San Francisco office.
You will be a member of a production team developing seamless, very large area satellite/aerial imagery based databases in support of flight training programs. Position entails preparation of geographic imagery data for image editing by other team members along with integration and composition of various sources of data with combination of in-house and commercial software into seamless real world visual databases. No relocation reimbursement provided.
Required skills and experience:

BS/BA in geography or similar related field.

Intermediate to advanced experience with Leica Geosystems Erdas image processing software packages (Leica Geosystems Erdas Imagine, ITT ENVI, etc)

Understanding/experience with import/conversion/management of raster/vector geographic datasets in varying formats/conventions (geotiff, DTED, USGS DEM, DOQQ, LIDAR, ESRI shapefiles, multiband Landsat, MrSid)

Understanding of map projections and related geographic concepts.

Experience working in MS windows based environment and strong understanding of underlying hardware/software limits/processes as relating specifically to image processing.

Background/experience with material classification techniques of remotely sensed data.

Experience with Adobe Photoshop as it relates to color enhancement and image editing

United States citizenship required, due to restrictions on access to certain data

Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Desired skills and experience:

Experience with shell programming/scripting

Experience with Microsoft Office (MSExcel/MSWord)

Experience with xml/xml schema.

Experience with UNIX/Linux operating systems.

Understanding of basic color theory and an �aesthetic eye� as it relates to real world data for simulation.
